Graphic paraphernalia for an exhibition “Kalamata, the City of Dance — 1995–2025”, showcasing the 30-year history of Kalamata International Dance Festival through archival material – posters, programs, publications, photographs, videos – as well as new creations. A text we did write for the booklet—poster expressed well our intentions we believe:
Seen individually, the thirty posters created over the past three decades – each designed by a different artist – invite analysis, interpretation, even the search for a singular narrative. But when viewed collectively, a deeper rhythm emerges. Together, they seem to move in unison, like parts of a single body – fragments of a visual choreography. To experience these posters, not as individual works of art, but as a unified collection, is reinforced by the unfolding of a fragmented visual grid to the folding back into a richly-layered composition, much like the structure of dance. These timeless collages express the idea that individual successes ultimately shape a vibrant, dynamic collectivity – one we hope will continue to shape both our personal and shared experiences.
